Star of the Week

Our Star of the Week this week is Nyanak!

We were all interested in Nyanak's family photos and the fancy outfits everyone was wearing.  We learned that she has a large family and many cousins.  Her "I Am" poem was wonderful and she did a great job presenting her information in front of the class.

Thanks for being our star this week, Nyanak!

Rappin' About the Southeast

This week Emma, Olivia and Sydney shared their raps about the Southeast with the class!  They all did a fantastic job performing their songs in front of the class.

Thanks, ladies!

Star of the Week

Our Star of the Week this week was Adam!

It was so fun to hear all about Adam when he made his presentation to the class.  His "I Am" poem demonstrated his love for Florida and the ocean.  He even had a few lines that rhymed!  Wow!

Adam's special guests were his dad and his aunt.  We were thrilled they were able to be a part of his special day.  Thank you for being our star this week, Adam!

Star of the Week

Our Star of the Week this week is Abraham!

Abe wrote a great "I Am" poem and read it to the class with his classic smile and sense of humor.  We loved learning about his family and seeing his pictures. Abe's special guest for his presentation was his mom.

Abe is a fantastic member of our class!  Thanks for being our Star of the Week, Abe!

Star of the Week

Our Star of the Week this week is Anthony!

Anthony did a great job reading his poem and presenting his information and pictures to the class.  He was very proud of the pictures of himself and his little brother, and we learned that he was born on his mom's birthday!  Wow!

Thank you for sharing your photos, poem and family information with us, Anthony!

United States Landform Project

On Monday the 4th graders tested their measuring skills by making their own play dough.  We were lucky to be able to take the more-than-messy project outside in the warm sunshine!

On Tuesday the students used the play dough they made to create a 3-Dimensional representation of the United States and its landforms.  They were required to label landforms such as the Coastal Plains, Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains

.

They did a great job on their 3-D maps and they are all currently on display in the library for the rest of the students at Sibley to see.  Excellent job, 4th graders!

Reading Buddies

Every Friday morning we meet with our first grade reading buddies in Miss Gonwa's room to read.  The fourth graders check out a few "everybody" books on Thursdays and then practice their fluency by reading to the first graders on Fridays.  It's a great way for the students to work on their oral reading; especially on their expressiveness and accuracy.

Our class looks forward to our reading buddy time every week and the first graders
are very excited when we show up!
