Star of the Week

Malaney is our star this week!
It was fun to listen to her presentation, hear her poem, and see her pictures today.  We laughed when she said she wanted her nickname to be Larry!  She had great pictures of vacations that she has taken with her family.
Malaney posed for a picture with Genevieve and Jaiden.

Thanks for being our star this week, Malaney!  You did a great job!

Clear Lake and Mason City Field Trip

Our 4th graders got to experience music, art and dance all in one field trip thanks to a Perpich Arts Grant we received this year.  We visited the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA and then traveled to Mason City, IA to tour Music Man Square, Meredith Wilson's Boyhood Home, and the MacNider Art Museum.

It was a great day filled with fun and learning!

Star of the Week

Our star this week is Zoe!
Zoe did a fantastic job during her presentation.  She had a very colorful poster, an I Am poem with photos of her cat and dogs, and many other photos to share with the class.
We learned that Zoe likes the Stink books and that her favorite movie is Lemonade Mouth.  She also told us that her mom makes amazing brownies.  Yummy!
Zoe's special guests today were her mom and her grandma.  Thanks for being our star this week, Zoe!

Star of the Week

Our star this week was Mrs. Studier!

We really enjoyed learning more about her when she shared her poster, poem and photos with the class.  During her presentation it was obvious to see that her family is very important to her.  She had great photos of her three girls - they were very cute all dressed up for their uncle's wedding!
Mrs. Studier's special guests were her daughters Kallie and Aliyah.
Thanks for being our star this week!

Stroll for a Goal

On Friday, October 12th we had our first annual Stroll for a Goal fundraiser for Sibley School. This year we tried a different approach to fundraising. Instead of selling products to people,
we asked people to pledge their support for our students to walk 3 miles around our school neighborhood.
We will use the money we raised for our class field trips, visiting authors, assemblies, gifted and talented program, murals, patrol flags, jackets and camps, room parties, Prairie Fire Play, scholarships, science fair,
sharing tree, family breakfasts, fall picnic, family movie nights, 5th grade recognition, C’Motion, Critters & Company, yearbook expenses, historical museum, and many other special projects and miscellaneous school materials.

We had a banana and water stop halfway through our walk.  Students were able to relax at the park with their friends while enjoying their snack.
If students raised $50 or more they were entered in a drawing to dunk Mr. Williams or to throw a pie in a teacher's face.  They LOVED this!
Mrs. Jensen and Mrs. Sorensen were such good sports!
It was a great day for a fabulous fundraiser.  We can't wait for our 2nd annual Stroll for a Goal!

Rendezvous

We had a wonderful (and chilly) experience at the Rendezvous!  Our 4th graders got the opportunity to visit various historical stations where they learned about many different cultures, skills and pastimes from long ago.  I'm looking forward to the other field trips we'll be able to attend this year thanks to the Perpich Arts Integration grant.

 Candle Making

 The Spoon Carver

 Pottery Making

 The Silversmith

 Native Woodland Lifestyles

 Grinding Corn

The New Ulm Battery of the Civil War

 Barrel Making

We also had a great time with the Scottish Dancers, but I was too busy dancing to take pictures.  Thanks for a great day, 4th graders!
